CHILDREN’S ATHLETIC DEVELOPMENT & FITNESS
UNIVERSALLY CHILDREN ARE NOT PREPARED PROPERLY FOR THEIR RESPECTIVE SPORTS.
Kids are enrolled on teams before they are taught how to run, jump, hit, throw or kick. Athleticism is not just innate – like anything it is a trainable ability controlled by the central nervous system. Developing general fitness and strength, and excelling in any sport requires not only physical abilities but also sports specific skill. The younger a child can be taught the correct biomechanics of all movement patterns the greater their chance for success.
As children grow at different rates it is important to train the control of their limbs in different ranges of motion and planes of movement so that their coordination continues to develop. The importance of core strength in all athletes is imperative but is especially important to develop in children with all human movements being dependent upon it. The earlier the correct neural patterns can be established the sooner the athlete can master their sport specific skill sets.
At JAB, we offer pre-pubescent training using different modalities within the appropriate parameters: movement fundamentals, weight training and plyometric technique, modified strongman training, agility training and general fitness conditioning. The focus is on achieving personal and sports specific goals in an enjoyable way and in a safe environment.
We also offer Mixed Martial Arts training, as individual personal training sessions, small group sessions and as part of a class environment. For children and young adults, martial arts provides numerous benefits, and is especially effective on a cognitive level for teaching discipline, encouraging social interaction, improving self-confidence and managing behavioural issues.
THE SCHOOLS PROGRAMS
OUR EXTRA-CURRICULAR AND CO-CURRICULAR OPTIONS ARE DESIGNED TO COMPLEMENT ACADEMIC PROGRAMS AND COGNITIVE DEVELOPMENT.
JAB trainers have a wealth of experience in sports and fitness, and have been working with children on an individual basis and within the parameters of a school curriculum for many years.
Our extra-curricular and co-curricular options are designed to complement academic programs and cognitive development, promote awareness of the importance of personal health and fitness, nurture empowerment and individual identity, and support growth and belonging within a community.
JAB is currently developing a Brazilian Jiu Jitsu program in collaboration with the Hong Kong International School, and already has in place popular kickfit and boxfit physical education modules with all Island Schools. In addition, a number of our coaching team are ex-professional rugby players and are available to offer specialized coaching in this area.
We are pleased to be able to offer the same training disciplines as available in our pre-pubescent program to all schools either in our facility or in an off-site location. This includes movement fundamentals, weight training and plyometric technique, modified strongman training, agility training and general fitness conditioning.
Let us help you structure your school sports curriculum whether it be part of your regular day, pre/post school hour, weekend or holiday program.
